Creativity: Piano Lessons

At today’s lesson, my teacher wanted me to paly songs that I had previously learned, because she wants me to have songs that I memorize. She wanted me to choose two songs; one that was slower, and one that was faster. I chose “The Swan” by Saint Sean fro the slower song, and “The Waltz of the Flowers” by Tchaikovsky for the faster song. The Swan is the easier song to paly of the two, and so I played it more smoothly after not playing either song in a long time. I also played the second part of the Beethoven piece today.

Action: Swimming

I swam about 10 or so freestyle laps today. The pool was quite crowded, so I did not get to do that many laps. I did about 2 laps in breaststroke and also did just the “feet/body” part of the butterfly stroke for 2 laps. I feel that my left arm in doing freestyle is doing much better now and it now feels less awkward to breathe from that side.

Action: School Basketball Team

Today we had practice with the boy’s team’s coach, Pak Ferry, who will be coaching the grade 10s to 11s for the competition that they are joining net week. At today’s practice, Pak Ferry went back to teaching us basics such as doing screening, and simple variations of screening drills. We also focused on shooting and especially making free throw shots, as well as the other shots that we made from near the ring. I felt that today’s practice was very effective.

Creativity: Piano Lessons

Today, I played the first part of Beethoven’s sonatina I was assigned. I need to further pay attention the tempo, other than making sure that I play the correct notes, as the song play with triplets and trills, so that sometimes I press the wrong note and do not follow the tempo correctly. I also tried out a bit of part 2 of the piece, which I still need to work on.

Action: School Basketball Team

Today we had practice as usual. Though the league games are over, we may still play in the upcoming Karawaci cup, and in fact, next week, the grade 10s to 11s of the team will be joining a basketball competition held nearby. The grade 12s will not be able to take part because they are too old to qualify. At practice we mostly did shooting and lay-up drills and also ran a bit.

Service: Teaching English Club

As the House Team Debate Competition began, at the beginning of February, we also continued with our English Club schedule. We were now housing the unit Speech. Coming in after the Christmas break, I think that many students are getting busier, or have lost interest in English club. It could also be, that they were more interested in the units that we hosted before the holiday. Today was the second meeting of the Speech unit.

So far, we have one participant, and though it is nice to have a greater number of participants, with just one participant, that participant has more time to interact with us seniors and also focus and developing his speech skills. I only helped out this meeting, and the Sherni and Valeska were the ones who contributed the most.
