Creativity: Piano Lessons

Today I played Largo from the PPC which sill needs a lot of work. I also played the assigned pieces from the Bach collection and the Heller collection. This week I also started playing Heller’s first piece from the book. I also need to practice and work on Humoreske from the PPC which I am still having difficultly playing smoothly.

I again spent some time today working on my own to continue making more bracelets.

Service: Habitat for Humanity - Fundraising

I have been working at home creating more bracelets in my own time today. I am trying to create more complex patterns, such as the chevron, though I think I will be limited in the number of more complex patterned bracelets that I can make, because they do consume more time to create. Therefore, I think I will also make some simpler patterned bracelets, such as those using the simple braid or twister (i.e. Chinese staircase). The simpler patterns not only take less time to create, but they also use up a shorter length of string, therefore if I am running out of embroidery floss in terms of the length of string that I am using is too short for any other pattern, I will revert to the simpler patterns to make do with the available string as much as possible, and be as efficient as waste as little string as possible.

Service: Habitat for Humanity - Fundraising

Today was the appointed day where we met again at Chika’s house to distribute more embroidery floss in order to make more bracelets over the holidays. I myself was appointed the task of buying the embroidery floss this time, which I brought to this meeting. Aside from distributing the embroidery floss, we also took some time to make more bracelets, though this meeting did not last as long as our first initial holiday meeting.

Service: Habitat for Humanity - Fundraising

The academic year has ended, and we will continue our fundraising for the Habitat for Humanity project once we return to school in August. We will not be idle over the summer holidays though. We have made plans to sell friendship bracelets, or plain hand crafted embroidery floss bracelets if you like, once we return to school. Therefore, this summer we will be working on making those bracelets to sell.
Today is the first day that we will set out to begin making the bracelets. We met up at Chika’s house today and learned to make different simple bracelet patters based on instructions we got online and from books. Those of us who have previously had some experience making friendship bracelets, including myself, especially helped to teach the others who have not had experience yet with creating friendship bracelets. It was also a time for use to gauge just how much string we needed to make each bracelet, including how much string we had to leave at the ends of the bracelet. Using this information, we distributed the embroidery floss and string that we have so far between us, so that we can continue to create bracelets in our own time at home.

As we plan on making about 100 bracelets in total, we will be meeting up again with more string to distribute. We also decided that we will be making a number of different patterns, some more simple, while others more complex, and the prices of the bracelets when we sell them will differ based on the complexity of the bracelet. For example, simplest bracelets will be the ones made out of the spiral (or chines ladder) and simple braid patterns, which consists of strings of just three different colors (or less).
