Action: Swimming

          Today was my first day to conduct this CAS activity. It has been a long time since I have swam and I felt it today as I was swimming. Not only does my stamina need work, but my technique also needs to be fixed again. When I do freestyle for example, there is a sort of kink in my left shoulder, that I can especially feel when in between strokes I try breathing on the left side instead of the right side. Today I mostly did freestyle laps and one or two breaststroke laps. Hopefully, as time passes by and I swim more, I will be able to improve the various things that I need to improve.

Creativity: Piano Lessons

            Today, I played the rondo section of Dussek’s sonatina again, and though it still have issues, I am finally moving on to a Beethoven’s sonatina opus 49 no. 2. For homework, I need to try out part 1 of this sonatina in full, which I have only tried slightly in today’s lesson.

Action: School Basketball Team

            Today I participated in practice, after the game that the team went to on Saturday. Though the team did not win the two games, they felt that they played quite well in the second game. Practice today consisted of the usual, where we did more drills.

Service: Teaching English Club

            After returning to school on the twelfth of January, English Club has been taking a break for the time being, as we will hold the House Team Debate Competition soon. It was decided before the break, that us seniors who are teaching English Club will not help in choosing the motions or joint adjudicating the debates, so as to remain completely impartial, and to guard against anyone of the house teams accusing other house teams that the competition was not completely fair.

            We met for short while today afterschool, in Miss Debbie’s room, in case participants from the competition have any questions that they would like to ask us, regarding the competition, whose first round will be held this Wednesday. Aside from this, we also used the time to talk about the competition, and how we, as twelfth graders could help, in doing things such as being the MC for a round and helping the time keepers, etc.

            Aside from this, we also talked about commencing with Debate Club again. We decided, that the units we now hosted would be “speech”, “English games”, and “storytelling”.

            Today practice was held as the team is preparing for the two games on Saturday. We warmed-up and then continued with drills as usual.

            Today, we had practice in preparation for the two games we will be playing this Saturday. Unfortunately, I will not be bale to make it to the two games on Saturday, as on that day I will be taking the SATs.
